I am trying to keep Farkas as my not-a-follower follower by keeping Proving Honor unfinished. Some time late in the game I decided to build a homestead and therefore need a steward. Unfortunately, the standard way to do that is getting a follower, bringing them to the homestead, and choosing a dialog option to turn them into a steward there.

She never gives any dialogue options other than the ones she had has a follower/housecarl. I have not had any other houses. How do I get her to display the options for hiring a bard, etc.
