Best woods cam for 103. Things To Know About Best woods cam for 103.

Personally for a heavy bike I would run a tw6, 26, or 37. You don't need roller rockers unless you are running .550 lift and above. The tw6 is a .510 lift, the 37 is a .510 lift and the 26 is a .490 lift so none of these needs roller rockers. If you are a throttle twister and ride hard then the tw5 or tw6h is the answer, I like the 6 better ...Fuel Maps. Click on image to zoom. Wood Performance TW-6 Chain Drive Camshafts. New. SKU: TW-6. The 555's, 777's, 888's, will all fit under OE springs and are "bolt-in" cams as far as that is concerned, but those NEED/REQUIRE more compression (and cylinder head air flow) to optimize the true potential of the later intake closing cams.If you have a proper valve job and porting on your heads with a bump in compression to get you over 10:1, preferably 10.5:1 you will see much bigger gains. More along the lines of 115HP and 125 lbs. of torque. 85 -90 HP 100-105 tq on a stock 103 with the 555. 100 hp 110 tq on a stock 103 that would be pretty hard to achieve.

The SE251 cams do make noise. I wouldn't count on the Woods and different. Chris. Running the Tw6-g's in my 98in build. The difference in noise levels between my fathers valve train on his stock 96 and mine is negligeable at best. Have heard lots of people complain about noisey cams, guess I got lucky.

I recently discussed an upgrade from 96 to 103 Cu in with two options from HD. Two kits discussed were 29893-07b which was has the 255 cams and the other is PN#27513-08b which has the 259E cams. I understand the second option includes SE Super Tuner. The 107 is tempting, but a bit pricy - about 4k's. Out here in SLC, just installing the SE 255 cams (parts, labor & dyno) out-the-door will run between $1,175.00 and $1,337.00. The Stage II 103 kit will run between $2,012.00 and $2,090.00. For a difference of about $825 bucks, I think I'll go with the Stage II.The redshift 587 has a little more duration and a little more lift and is supposed to be custom made for cvo 110s. I'm not a hot rodder but I do like to accelerate briskly on occasion. The only other concern is if I ever get bored down the road and decide to go with a 117 kit , head work ,throttle body, injectors etc. - It never ends. There’s nothing quite like exploring the great outdoors, and modern technology means you can capture every moment to relive the excitement again and again. Jim, given that you ride 2 up a lot and in mountains, I would think that you would want a cam that hits low in the RPM band to be the most useful. Something like a Woods Prowler .222 or even the Harley .255. I had the 255 in a Ultra Classic that I had bumped to a 103 from a 96 and really liked the low end pull. +1 on calling Fuel Moto.

Also the TW-26 or the TW-37 with the 26 being more bottom end oriented and the 37 more mid and top end oriented at that displacement and compression. Also S&S510 or Kuryakyn TC-1. The Wood cams make some very good power, but despite what Bob or anyone else says, they bring a little more noise to the valvetrain. Some grinds are louder than others, but the trade-off is generally a motor that makes a bit more power than a comparative cam from a different company. As for the video above, woods cams have a reputation for making good power, but they are also known for being very aggressively ground. That makes them noisy and hard on parts. When looking at dyno sheets, remember that those are the best numbers they were able to get for that combination.
