These prices are insane…don’t get me wrong there is some labor involved but $700+ to pull the fairly easily accessible valve covers is crazy. Figure ~4hrs tops to do this if you’re taking your time. I could probably do it in two hours as I’ve done a couple Honda valve jobs. Two mechanics told me a new engine, or a rebuild. But this 06 pilot has 120000 miles, the lifters have been adjusted, they checked the pistons. Everything was in spec. (thank you Honda) the cam shaft has been adjusted. I have also tried different types of oil in order to eliminate this ticking noise. I even ran this pilot on different octane gas.
